Watch: Why AI Search Is a One-Answer Economy

In this short, Joshua Albanese, founder of Spearleaf, describes the one-answer economy: Google used to give ten blue links, Google Maps shows three local results before you scroll, and AI generally gives one. He adds that there is a very low correlation between ranking on Google and being recommended by AI, the gap that AI search optimization works on.

We're in a one-answer economy, you know? We used to have 10 blue links with Google.

You go to Google Maps, you search on Google Maps, you have three blue links if you're talking about local businesses. You get the three links to look at before you have to scroll.

And with AI, generally, you get one. You get one option.

And often, like I said, there's no correlation all the time, not 100% of the time. I shouldn't say that. There's not no correlation, just that there's a very low correlation between ranking on Google and being recommended by AI.
