Business owner: My wife made a Google reviews QR code on some free site and stuck it on the truck door. Three months, zero reviews.
Joshua: Two fixes. Get the code from Google itself, and put it where the customer is standing still. On a computer, open your Business Profile, click "Read reviews," then "Get more reviews," and save the QR code.
Business owner: Why a computer? I run the whole business off my phone.
Joshua: That's where Google puts the QR download. Save it once at a desk, then text it to yourself. Some free generator sites route scans through their own link. If it dies, every card dies. Google's code goes straight to your review box. Where it goes: the paper invoice, so it's in their hand. Emailed invoices get the link instead. And on a small card your tech hands over with one line. "Got a minute? This goes straight to our Google reviews."
Business owner: My guys won't give a speech. They're out of a crawl space and on to the next call.
Joshua: It's not a speech. It's one sentence while the customer watches the clogged sink finally drain. The truck door can stay. Few people stop to scan it. Two easy mistakes: cards only for the happy ones, or a discount for a review. Google's rule forbids both. Setup takes an evening. Reviews come one job at a time, so give it a few months.
